It would be a good idea to get in touch with the WA Museum and tell them about it (perhaps ask for Peter Bindon). And of course you should tell local aboriginal people. If you don't know any aboriginal people in your area you could let your local ATSIC office know, or the WA Aboriginal Affairs Dept office. Re: pinjarra mountain tribe

Thanks Bruce like I said before this is a great find but cultural protacol should be followed and more than likely they would be just as happy as you to to hear about this. Without consultation assumption that you are doing the right thing would be no different to all past and present policies of knowing whats best for Aboriginals. Thanks for doing the right thing it is their land we are just vistors. Re: pinjarra mountain tribe

Stu, thanks for your guidance in these matters. In the interest of conservation and education I have sent a bundle of photos to the Dept of Indiginous Affairs in Perth. Barbara Culbong. Regards Bruce. Re: pinjarra mountain tribe

I disagree that we are just visitors. At one point in time no aboriginal people were here either so what is the criteria for ownership? First in? What about greatest numbers? Whatever the circumstances of european arrival, the reality is that the country is now majority non-indigenous and that the law of the land applies to all. To suggest europeans are merely visitors is a quaint fantasy. Many remote, traditional aboriginal people I have met always refer to themselves as custodians of the land and in fact will often deny any ownership of the land. It is only the urbanised aboriginal supported by media and liberals with a tenuous grasp of modern reality that have created the modern fiction of 'tradional owner'. I agree that courtesy should be followed but cultural protocol? Another modern invention. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
